Loan repayment calculator
See what your repayments could look like. Adjust the amount and term, compare the total cost, and find a starting point that works for you.
Your loan, your numbers
A longer term usually lowers repayments, but increases the total cost.
Adjust the example rate and fees
Fees are added to the loan and attract interest. The $1,000 fee is an example only, not Loansmart’s confirmed fee schedule.
See what paying extra could change
Add an extra payment to see the estimated effect on time and interest.
This example assumes no early repayment charges. Lender terms need confirmation.
Your estimated repayment
—
How this estimate is calculated
A fixed-rate, reducing-balance calculation with equal payments. The annual rate is divided by the payment frequency. Fees are financed upfront. Actual lender schedules, daily interest and payment rounding may differ. Optional insurance and ongoing account fees are not included.
An estimate is not a quote or an approval.
An adviser can help you understand your options.
Compare repayment terms
| Term | Weekly | Interest + fees | Total repayment |
|---|
Compare your existing debts
Enter your balances, rates and actual weekly payments. For cards, we assume you keep making that payment and make no new purchases.
Need to use fortnightly payments? Divide by 2. For monthly payments, multiply by 12 and divide by 52.
Example fees only. Added to the new loan. Enter any known settlement charges as part of the new-loan fees.
Estimated new weekly repayment
Add your debts to compare the options.
*Assumes fixed rates, unchanged payments, no new borrowing and no ongoing fees on existing debts. Payoff times are estimates, not contractual schedules.
Talk through my options →What could a lower rate change?
Compare two example rates on the same amount and term. This is a scenario comparison, not a personalised rate offer.
The same fees are financed in both examples to isolate the effect of the rate. Actual lender fees may differ. For an existing loan, use the debt-consolidation tool to compare remaining costs.
What can affect the rate offered?
Lenders consider factors such as credit history, income, expenses and the loan requested.
A car or property may affect available options. If repayments are not made, the asset used as security could be at risk.
A lender assesses both borrowers’ circumstances and commitments. A joint borrower can be responsible for the whole loan.
None of these factors guarantees a lower rate. An adviser can explain what they mean for your situation.

An example of the loan a repayment budget could support. This is not a lender affordability assessment or approval.
Include housing, transport, insurance, dependants and irregular expenses averaged over a week. Exclude loan payments entered below.
Include all debt payments that continue after the new loan. Only exclude payments on debts you will repay in full from the new loan, entering their balances below.
These balances are deducted from the total loan to estimate additional cash. Include any settlement charges in the fees below.

A few helpful answers
Before you take
the next step.
Understand your estimate, your options and what happens when you apply.
Ask an adviser →Is this my actual repayment or an estimate?
It is an estimate based on your inputs and the example rate and fees. A lender’s actual offer may be higher or lower and depends on your circumstances. Your adviser will explain the rate, fees and terms before you decide.
What fees are included?
This calculator uses an editable $1,000 example fee, added to the loan. It is not a confirmed Loansmart fee. Your adviser will confirm the actual fees and which charges apply before you decide.
Does using the calculator affect my credit score?
No credit check is carried out by this calculator. The figures are calculated in your browser. Applying for a loan is a separate process and may involve credit checks, which should be explained before you consent.
How do I find out my actual interest rate?
Complete an application so an adviser can consider your circumstances and available lender options. The example rate in this calculator does not predict the rate you will receive.
What happens when I apply?
You provide personal and financial information so your circumstances can be assessed. Additional information or documents may be needed. An application is not a guarantee of approval.
Can I pay extra or repay early?
Early repayment conditions and possible charges vary by lender. Ask your adviser to confirm these. The extra-payment example assumes no early repayment charges.
Will combining my debts save me money?
It can, but not always. Compare the total amount left to repay as well as the weekly payments. Extending the term may lower payments while increasing overall costs.
Can Loansmart help if I have bad credit?
Available options depend on your circumstances and each lender’s criteria. An adviser can explain what may be possible; this calculator does not assess eligibility.
