Case study #1: Ricky

The need

Ricky was fairly new to New Zealand and was here on a work permit.

He wanted to advance his career by applying for a role in upper management, but in order to be eligible for the role he needed a certain level of qualification.

The course was going to cost $20,000. Ricky didn’t have that kind of cash lying around, considering he’d already spent a good chunk of his savings getting to New Zealand and setting up his new life here.

The challenge

Ricky applied for a loan with several lenders but kept getting declined, mostly because he hadn’t been in New Zealand long and didn’t have a detailed credit history.

This was very frustrating for him because in order to get credit, he needed to have a credit history, but the only way to get that was to take out a loan!

Eventually he learned about Loansmart and contacted us to see if he could help.

The solution

One of our friendly loan advisors listened to Ricky’s story and found out that he earned a good income with a reputable company, and had good prospects for career advancement.

We were able to help him pay for his course, which he was delighted with.

When it comes to personal loans, Loansmart really is the smarter choice. We take the time to find out about our customers and understand their needs so we can arrange loans that work for them.

Even for people with no credit score, we’re still able to find a positive outcome most of the time.

Getting a loan through Loansmart involves more than just credit scores. Our team looks at your bank statements from the last three months to see if you can afford it.

Our goal is to help you get ahead financially, so we’ll make sure you can afford the payments. Your chances of getting approved will increase if you have good conduct – which basically means you earn more than you spend.

When it comes to getting loans, Loansmart says yes more often, and we don’t exclude people based on their credit score.

Case study #2: Donna

The need

Kiri was at home in Auckland when got a call with some terrible news, that a family member living overseas had passed away.

She needed to get to the funeral but didn’t have the cash in the bank to fund the trip.

With the cost of travel having increased so much over the past few years, paying for return plane tickets – as well as all the other inevitable costs incurred through travel – just wasn’t going to happen.

Not knowing what she could do, she got in touch with Loansmart to see if we could help her find a solution.

The challenge

The trickiest part of Kiri’s situation was that she needed to travel the next day, so she needed her loan to be approved and paid out almost immediately.

Usually, we can get loan approval for unsecured loans within 1-2 hours*, but this was an especially urgent matter, and it was touch and go whether we would be able to make it happen.

However, our team leapt into action and did all they could so Kiri could get to the funeral.

*Subject to responsible lending checks and criteria.

The solution

Despite the incredibly short time frame, we were able to get Kiri’s loan approved and paid out that same day. She was able to hop on a flight the following day and make it to her family member’s funeral on time.

Because Loansmart is a loan broker, we work with multiple low-cost lenders to secure the best deal for our clients. We’ve built solid relationships with our lenders, so they’re more likely to bend over backwards for us and our customers.

If Kiri had applied for a loan directly with a lender, she would have been put in a queue and made to wait her turn.

Instead, she got the benefit of the huge speed advantage Loansmart has. It’s all done online, so you don’t have to fill out forms or make appointments. It’s super simple and most loans are approved within 1-2 hours!*
